Research Seed Grant Program

About this program

The Maine Space Grant Consortium’s Research Seed Grant Program provides short-term, one-time funding to launch collaborative, interdisciplinary projects aligned with NASA R&D priorities and Maine’s technology sectors. Eligible expenses include preliminary research, student support, travel to NASA Field Centers, and discipline-specific networking workshops, with the goal of generating results for future NASA or other external proposals. Applicants should be emerging or established researchers developing new directions, and proposals must demonstrate scientific merit, cross-disciplinary collaboration, potential for external funding, and a viable sustainability plan. Preference is given to Ideas Lab Workshop participants and projects with confirmed NASA mentors or collaborators, community college involvement, and strong student research opportunities.
