National Museum of Natural History (Smithsonian Institution) offers the Robert D. Hevey, Jr. and Constance M. Filling Fellowship, a ten-week resident graduate fellowship in the Department of Invertebrate Zoology to support invertebrate zoological research and training; awards include a $10,000 stipend, a $5,000 research allowance, relocation assistance as appropriate, and travel to/from Washington, DC. Applicants must be currently enrolled graduate students (U.S. or international), fluent in English, able to be in full-time residence at NMNH for the entire fellowship, and may not hold other Smithsonian positions during the tenure. Applications are submitted via the Smithsonian Academic Appointment System (SOLAA) as part of the Smithsonian Institution Fellowship Program (SIFP); applicants must identify an NMNH Department of Invertebrate Zoology research scientist as primary advisor and provide a budget for the $5,000 research allotment, following typical SIFP deadlines (applications due October 15; notifications by April). Priority is given to those who have not previously conducted research at NMNH, and fellows must begin the tenure within one year of notification.
