Royal Numismatic Society Grants

About this program

The Royal Numismatic Society awards annual research grants from multiple funds to support numismatic research and the deployment of research outcomes, with awards usually under £1,000 though larger grants may be considered and selected funds (e.g., Marion Archibald, John Casey) offering up to £1,500–£3,000; applicants, especially outside the UK, may request up to £50/day for daily expenses in addition to travel and accommodation. Grants are open to RNS Fellows and non‑Fellows, and students may apply for specific, outcome‑focused projects; funds will not normally cover tuition fees or general living costs for university courses. Applicants must submit a single online Grant Application Form by midnight GMT on 28 February or 31 August, fully completed with a project outline and up to three research questions (or research background and intended audience for deployment proposals), and ensure references reach the Society by the closing date.
