RSVP Microgrants

About this program

RSVP Microgrants, offered by the professional association RSVP, provide quarterly $300 USD seed grants to support new research or exploratory work in nineteenth-century British and empire periodical studies (eligible costs include subscriptions to digital archives or tools, local archival travel, purchasing periodicals, or short courses/workshops; funds may not be used for publication, conference, or dissemination expenses). Applications are accepted around four annual deadlines (1 Mar, 15 May, 1 Sep, 1 Dec); the portal opens about one month before each deadline and closes at 11:59 p.m. PST, and RSVP intends to award up to four microgrants per cycle with funds disbursed by mailed cheque. Applicants must be RSVP members at the time of application (no scholarly affiliation required) and may be at any career stage; recipients may not receive another Microgrant in the same calendar year, while unsuccessful applicants may reapply in later cycles. Applications require brief statements of interest/experience, a plan and expected impact; selections are reviewed by RSVP’s Board and, if demand exceeds funds, ranked by expected impact and clarity, and awardees must submit a 250–500 word blog post 6–12 months after receipt.
