RSVP Microgrants

About this program

RSVP offers Eileen Curran–funded Microgrants of up to $300 USD as seed support for new or exploratory research projects in periodical studies. Funds may be used for subscriptions to digital archives or tools, travel to local archives, purchasing periodicals, or short courses/workshops directly related to periodicals research, but not for publication or conference/dissemination costs. Applicants at any career stage are eligible but must be RSVP members at the time of application, may apply once per calendar year (past recipients within three years may be less competitive), and submit three brief questions about their interest in 19th‑century British periodicals, plans for the grant, and expected impact; applications are accepted on four annual deadlines and adjudicated by RSVP’s Board, with 3–5 awards per round announced within 4–5 weeks and funds disbursed by mailed cheque. Awardees are required to submit a 250–500 word blog post 6–12 months after receiving the microgrant.
