About this program
The California Alternative Energy and Advanced Transportation Financing Authority (CAEATFA), within the State Treasurer’s Office, offers the Sales and Use Tax Exclusion Program to support manufacturers purchasing equipment for alternative energy, advanced transportation, recycling, and advanced manufacturing projects. Approved applicants receive an exclusion from state and local sales and use taxes on eligible manufacturing equipment, with ongoing applications and awards generally lasting five years. California manufacturers may apply to construct, expand, or upgrade facilities producing eligible products or processing recycled feedstock; no matching funds are required.
