SAS-JAS Emerging Investigator Award

About this program

The Society for Archaeological Sciences and the Journal of Archaeological Science jointly offer the SAS–JAS Emerging Investigator Award to recognize research excellence among early‑career archaeological scientists; the winning article receives USD $500 and is promoted and made freely available by JAS for one year. Manuscripts must be nominated at submission to JAS via the online tick box and will undergo normal external peer review; nominations are considered annually and eligible papers are those nominated and published with a publication date in the previous year (manuscripts published later are rolled over). Applicants must be first author or equal first author (or formally acknowledged as such) and must have received their PhD or highest degree within the previous eight years at the time of manuscript submission, with allowance for significant career interruptions, and selection is made by the SAS Executive Board and senior JAS editors based on innovation, originality, and impact.
