Scientific Achievement Award (ASHG)

About this program

The American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG) annually presents the Scientific Achievement Award for remarkable scientific contributions in human genetics made within the last ten years, awarding a plaque and $10,000 at the Society’s Annual Meeting and typically publishing the award lecture in The American Journal of Human Genetics. Nominees must be current ASHG members whose work—a single major discovery or a series of related contributions—has demonstrably influenced the field; awardees are generally independent investigators ~10–20 years into their careers, with consideration for career hiatuses. Nominations require a completed nomination form addressing eligibility and judging criteria, two references responding to specified questions, the nominee’s CV, and brief (≤300-word) narratives from the nominator and references describing the nominee’s achievements and impact.
