Seamus Hogan Research Prize

About this program

The New Zealand Association of Economists awards the Seamus Hogan Research Prize (NZ$1,000) for the best public policy paper by a student presented at the NZAE annual conference, judged on clarity of presentation, critical application of economics to policy, and appropriate use of empirical and theoretical tools. Applicants must be enrolled in tertiary study in New Zealand at the time of the conference or have completed a New Zealand tertiary degree within the previous 12 months, be emerging/early career researchers, and be able to attend and present (oral or poster) at the conference. Entrants must comply with conference registration and abstract/full paper submission deadlines, indicate they are entering the prize when registering, and may submit co‑authored papers only if the entrant’s substantial contribution is identified; prize payment is made in NZ dollars by cheque or direct debit to a NZ bank account.
