Seed Science Award

About this program

The Crop Science Society of America (CSSA) offers the annual Seed Science Award to recognize distinctive service and contributions—through research, teaching, extension, leadership, or combinations—advancing seed science and technology from embryo development through germination and seed processing/production methods. The award carries a certificate, a complimentary ticket to the award presentation, and $2,000, with nominations accepted annually from January through March 25. Nominators must be members of ASA, CSSA, and/or SSSA; nominees must be living, may be non-members, must not be former recipients, and nominee teams are permitted; CSSA Awards Committee and Board members may not nominate, be nominated, or serve as references. Nominations require a detailed packet documenting education, positions, research, teaching, extension, service, administrative contributions, honors, and a summarizing evaluation (with specified character limits), and the committee may withhold the award if no nominee meets the criteria.
