About this program

The Sheila Suen Lai Research Grant, historically offered by the Asian Pacific American Librarians Association (APALA), supported research projects and related conferences, workshops, programs, and research writing in library and information science, particularly APA librarianship; it could not fund professional association conference attendance. Applicants were required to hold an MLS or equivalent, work in a professional-level position, be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and have maintained APALA membership for at least one year and throughout the grant period. Applicants could not receive another APALA grant in the same year, and applications were historically due March 1. The grant is not currently offered.
