Small Conference Grants

About this program

The Society for Renaissance Studies offers Small Conference Grants of £200–£600 to support research-led conferences covering the broad Renaissance period (c.1300–1670), usually provided as conference-fee waivers and/or bursaries for travel, accommodation or caring costs (typically ~£70 per person; larger sums may be awarded for overseas delegates). Grants prioritise enabling postgraduate and postdoctoral attendance and are normally distributed across multiple delegates; they do not ordinarily cover administrative costs, standing/repeat events, or conferences primarily for training. Applicants must be SRS members (postgraduate applicants need approval from an academic sponsor), conferences should be in an advanced planning stage with key speakers and provisional numbers, and applications must be submitted at least three months before the event for consideration at the SRS deadlines of 1 April and 1 December. Successful applicants must acknowledge SRS support on publicity, list the event on the SRS events calendar, circulate membership leaflets, submit a short report to the SRS Bulletin, and supply a detailed expenditure spreadsheet and institutional receipt when claiming funds; queries to Dr Eleanor Chan (ellie@eleanorchan.com).
