Solon T. Kimball Award for Public and Applied Anthropology

The American Anthropological Association awards the biennial Solon T. Kimball Award for Public and Applied Anthropology to individuals or teams for recent exemplary contributions that advance anthropology as an applied science and have had significant impacts on public policy; the prize is $1,000 and is presented at the AAA Annual Meeting. Nominations are open to candidates of any nationality, specialization, or employment type and may recognize theoretical or methodological work affecting public policy in any area (e.g., health, environment, education, criminal justice, development, cultural heritage). Required nomination materials include a nominee CV/resume, cover letter, an example publication, and supporting documents, and submissions will open in Spring 2026; nominations recognizing disciplinary path‑breakers are especially encouraged.
