Spencer Shorte Legacy Award

About this program

The Association of Biomolecular Research Facilities (ABRF) and Core Technologies for Life Sciences (CTLS) present the Spencer Shorte Legacy Award to honor individuals who exemplify humility, collaboration, mentorship, selflessness, warmth, and integrity; the award includes travel, meals and accommodation to attend the ABRF Annual Meeting, an opportunity to present, and up to $15,000 toward a recipient‑led community‑building program. Selection emphasizes community impact and character over publication metrics, with consideration of demonstrated multi‑institutional or international contributions. Nominees must be ABRF or CTLS members in good standing and be submitted via the ABRF nomination form (nominations due January 15; finalists and final application deadlines follow), with the award presented at the ABRF Annual Meeting.
