About this program
The Society for Post‑Medieval Archaeology (SPMA) offers small research grants to support projects and publications on post‑Medieval archaeology (c. 1500 to the present) relating to Britain, Europe and the wider world, with applications accepted twice yearly (nominal deadlines 1 March and 1 September). Awards are up to £2,000 per proposal and the total fund available in any single round is £2,000, which may be divided among multiple successful applicants; applicants are typically notified by 1 May and 1 November. Eligibility is limited to members of the SPMA, applications are made by completing the SPMA research grant form and emailing it to grants@spma.org.uk, and awardees must submit a project report for the Society website and newsletter.
