SPSSI Local- and State-Level Policy Work Grants

About this program

The Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI) invites proposals for its annual Local- and State-Level Policy Work Grants, funding up to three research/policy groups each year with awards of up to $2,000 to support applied research that informs local- or state-level policymaking. Eligible groups must include three or more social scientists who reside in the same U.S. state or comparable regional jurisdiction outside the U.S., work on the same policy-relevant issue, and include at least one current SPSSI member. Preference is given to teams with existing policy experience or a clear plan to obtain it, and to groups that include a graduate student or early-career scholar. Proposals (≤3,000 words) are due September 1 and should provide project background, team biosketches, methodology, expected deliverables, and a one-year budget (acceptable expenses include meetings, research, student support, participant incentives, and limited materials but not overhead); awardees must disseminate results to SPSSI members.
