Standard Award (TAAI/TAAF)

About this program

TAAI/TAAF offers Standard Awards of up to £2,000 to support young British nationals or long‑term UK residents who are TAAI members in gaining practical experience and understanding of international rural development, aiming to benefit host communities and strengthen UK–developing country links. Awards typically support placements of at least six months and include access to TAAI networks, mentorship, and professional advice. Eligible applicants must be TAAI members, normally under 30, hold a relevant degree or diploma, and demonstrate a strong interest in development; generally no more than two years’ prior overseas experience is desirable and candidates usually find and confirm their own placement before applying. Applications must be received prior to the placement, include a detailed projected expenditure breakdown, and awardees are required to submit progress and final reports.
