Surgical Innovation Fellowship

About this program

Boston Children's Hospital’s Department of Surgery, in collaboration with the Innovation and Digital Health Accelerator and SIMPeds, offers the two-year Surgical Innovation Fellowship (SIF) to immerse surgical residents in healthcare innovation. The fellowship provides hands-on training across the full device and software innovation pathway—market analysis, design and prototyping, product management, customer discovery, sales, patent and regulatory filing—supported by a network of advisors to advance ideas from concept to bedside. Fellows also participate in clinical and scientific research while remaining clinically active within the Department of Surgery, including in‑house call and pediatric surgery/transplantation didactics. Eligibility is targeted to surgical residents able to commit to the two‑year program and to fulfill the combined innovation and departmental clinical responsibilities at Boston Children’s Hospital.
