About this program
The Association of Jewish Libraries (AJL) annually presents the Sydney Taylor Book Award, established in 1968, to recognize outstanding books for children and teens that authentically portray the Jewish experience. Gold medals are presented in three categories—Picture Book, Middle Grade, and Young Adult—while Honor (silver) and Notable Books are also named and a periodic Body-of-Work Award honors significant contributions; awards are non-monetary and AJL offers seals, posters, and submission guidance. Eligible entries are children’s and young adult books that authentically depict Jewish life and themes, with submissions handled according to AJL’s published guidelines (no monetary prize or fixed deadline specified).
