The Anita Oberholster Award for Extension Excellence (ASEV Extension Distinction Award)

The American Society for Enology and Viticulture (ASEV) offers the Anita Oberholster Award for Extension Excellence (renamed in 2026 to honor Dr. Anita Oberholster) to recognize an active extension professional for outstanding contributions to enology or viticulture extension, including translation of research into practical tools; recipients receive a plaque and an unspecified monetary prize and are expected to present their programs at the ASEV National Conference. Nominees must be current professional ASEV members and active extension professionals in viticulture or enology (most candidates have ~7+ years developing extension programs); previous recipients are not eligible and nominators must also be ASEV members, with self-nominations permitted. Nominations are accepted year‑round but must be received by August 1 for consideration in the current cycle; a brief nomination letter (≤750 words) addressing specified criteria is required, and the committee may request letters of support and CVs, with eligible nominees retained for automatic consideration for up to three additional years.
