The Film Independent Camera Grant

About this program

Film Independent’s Camera Grant loans an ARRI Alexa SXT Plus or a Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 4.6K camera package to qualified filmmakers for narrative or documentary shorts, features, or web series, awarded on a rolling basis. Applicants must be the director, producer, or cinematographer and be an alum of Film Independent Artist Development programs, an LA Film Festival alum, a past Film Independent Spirit Award nominee, or specifically solicited by Film Independent. Projects must be at least 75% financed; applicants must apply online at least 30 days before production with required materials (cover letter, director’s/cinematographer’s statements, budget top-sheet, script, bios, and sample cinematography), pay the application fee, and provide proof of production insurance. Grant recipients must be (or become) Film Independent members, pay a $500 usage fee plus refundable deposit, and are responsible for insurance and shipping costs outside Los Angeles.
