The Ronald Strahan Memorial Award

The Australian Mammal Society Inc. offers the Ronald Strahan Memorial Award, a medal recognizing significant contributions to the popular understanding of Australian mammals; recipients are named Fellows of the Society and invited to contribute an article to the Society newsletter. Eligibility is restricted to Australian Mammal Society members, and nominations must be submitted in writing to the Society President with a statement of the nominee’s contribution and supporting evidence (publications, presented papers, other relevant work). Evaluation emphasizes publications and presentations, the diversity of audiences reached, and conservation, educational and community outcomes. Nominations are reviewed by an ad hoc committee appointed by the President (including a past medallist after the first award), called at least three months before the Annual General Meeting, ratified by Council at the AGM, and the medal is presented at the conference dinner.
