The SCANZ Excellence in Science Communication Award (biennial)

About this program

The Science Communicators Association of New Zealand (SCANZ) offers the biennial SCANZ Excellence in Science Communication Award to recognise outstanding communication of science to non‑scientific audiences across any area of science communication, with a $1,500 cash prize and an invitation to present at the next SCANZ conference. Eligible applicants are Aotearoa New Zealand–based individual SCANZ members or teams that include one or more SCANZ members, and projects must have been completed within the two years prior to the closing date. Submissions must include a project description and documented results and may include portfolios of written or audiovisual materials. Entries are judged by a selection committee based solely on submitted materials, evaluated for clarity of scientific explanation, audience engagement, relevance and style, and delivery against stated objectives.
