Theodore von Kármán Prize

About this program

The Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) awards the Theodore von Kármán Prize every five years for a notable application of mathematics to mechanics or engineering within the preceding five to ten years. The award includes $2,000, a certificate, a requested lecture, and reimbursement for reasonable travel expenses; the next prize will be presented at the 2029 SIAM Annual Meeting. There are no eligibility restrictions beyond the prize specifications, although preference is given to SIAM members. Nominations must include a nominator’s recommendation letter, the candidate’s CV, and two or three expert letters of support; the next call for nominations is May 1, 2028.
