About this program
The Communal Studies Association offers the Timothy Miller Outstanding Book Award for a single scholarly or popular book that makes an outstanding contribution to understanding communal societies. Eligible books must have been published or completed within the previous two calendar years, including works completed by the nomination deadline; for the 2026 awards, eligible works date from 2024 through early 2026. Any person or group may be nominated, including by self-nomination, but nominators must be CSA members and must submit a statement explaining the book’s significance by June 1 of the award year.
