About this program
The South Atlantic Modern Language Association (SAMLA) offers an annual Undergraduate Student Essay Award recognizing an outstanding undergraduate presentation from the previous year’s conference. The winner receives a $125 honorarium, publication of the essay on the SAMLA website, and a biographical profile in SAMLA News. Applicants must be SAMLA members for at least one year before applying, submit an edited 8–13-page essay with a Works Cited page, and complete the application themselves. Nominations open in early spring and close July 15; applicants must attend the annual conference, where the award is announced.
