Underground Heating Oil Tank Cleanup Reimbursement Program

About this program

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection offers reimbursement for eligible environmental cleanup costs resulting from releases of heating oil from underground residential tank systems. Applicants must pay a $1,000 deductible, after which eligible costs may be reimbursed up to $4,000. Eligible applicants are current or former tank owners whose buried tank has a capacity of 3,000 gallons or less, was used to heat the premises, and released heating oil to the environment on or after January 30, 1998; cleanup must be completed or underway.
