U.S. Stockholm Junior Water Prize (SJWP)

About this program

The Water Environment Federation (WEF), in partnership with the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), administers the U.S. Stockholm Junior Water Prize, a prestigious international competition for high-school research addressing water quality, resource management, water protection, and drinking water and wastewater treatment; the U.S. national competition will be hosted by WEF in summer 2026. The U.S. national winner receives $10,000 and will represent the United States at the international SJWP during World Water Week in Stockholm, where international winners have historically received $15,000. Applicants must be enrolled in grades 9–12, be at least 15 years old by August 1 of the competition year, and have completed a water-related science project; WEF and its Member Associations run the regional, state, and national selection process.
