Virginia Tech Postdoctoral Associate Travel Award Program

About this program

Virginia Tech’s Office of Research and Innovation offers the Postdoctoral Associate Travel Award Program to help Virginia Tech postdoctoral associates present scholarly work at high-impact conferences by offsetting travel and registration costs. Awards are capped at $500 for domestic travel and $1,000 for international travel, are reviewed quarterly, and give priority to proposals with substantial faculty or department cost share; presentation materials must acknowledge VT support and use an approved logo. Eligible applicants are Virginia Tech postdoctoral associates with an accepted presentation and must submit a research description linking the conference to career goals, a faculty supervisor recommendation (up to 2 pages), an itemized budget, CV, and evidence of acceptance. Awardees must submit a one-page summary and two to three conference photos within 30 days of the event; 2026 deadlines are Jan 26, Apr 27, Jul 27, and Oct 26, and faculty recommendations may be emailed to christsmith@vt.edu.
