Virginia Tech Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowships

About this program

Virginia Tech’s Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship, sponsored by university units including the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative hubs, Fralin Life Sciences Institute, ICTAS, LAUNCH, and the Division of Scholarly Integrity and Research Compliance, competitively supports outstanding, diverse postdoctoral associates with up to two years of nationally competitive salary and benefits, mentoring, and up to $10,000 for training and professional development. Fellowships are awarded in four tracks—Research Frontiers; Cybersecurity Innovation; and Science Policy and Research Ethics—and are open to postdoctoral researchers from any discipline. Applications are developed by faculty mentors in partnership with prospective fellows and require a short (3–4 page) proposal submitted to the Office of Research and Innovation; proposals are evaluated on advancement of the fellow’s independent research, enhancement of the mentor’s program, and alignment with university and sponsor priorities, and mentors may join a participating faculty list but need not be listed to host a fellow.
