The Materials Research Society (MRS) awards the Von Hippel Award, its highest honor, to materials scientists or engineers whose work demonstrates exceptional brilliance, originality, and cross‑disciplinary vision; the recipient is invited to present at the MRS Fall Meeting. The prize includes a $10,000 cash award, honorary MRS membership, a mounted ruby laser crystal trophy, and coverage of registration and reasonable travel expenses to attend the meeting.
