Warshaw Fellow Research Award & Buchter Resident Research Award

About this program

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and the Emory Department of Pediatrics fund the Warshaw Fellow Research Award (for medical fellows) and the Buchter Resident Research Award (for pediatric residents) to support hypothesis-driven child health research across basic, clinical, translational, and outcomes domains; applications are due April 1 and the budget period is July 1–June 30. Fellows may request up to $5,000 and residents up to $2,500 (two-year projects may be approved within the same limits if completed before training ends); funds generally exclude travel, conference fees, and PI training expenses except with strong justification. Eligibility: Warshaw applicants must be Emory medical fellows with a primary mentor holding a faculty appointment in the Emory Department of Pediatrics or the Emory+Children’s Pediatric Institute; Buchter applicants are typically Emory Department of Pediatrics residents (residents from other departments may qualify with prior approval). Proposed projects must be hypothesis-driven, describe a discrete, time- and budget-feasible project with a defined end product (for fellows, an element that advances the required fellowship scholarly product, usually a manuscript; for residents, a presentation, manuscript, grant application or similar), and must be completed and reported before the end of training.
