Wayne Shirley Research Fellowship (Library of Congress residency — musics of the Americas)

About this program

The Society for American Music funds the annual Wayne Shirley Research Fellowship to support short-term research residencies at the Library of Congress on topics related to the musics of the Americas, providing up to $1,000 for travel, lodging, and duplication. Awards are competitive and open to scholars at any career stage who are members in good standing of the Society, and proposals must clearly explain how the research will use Library of Congress holdings. Required materials are the Society application form, current CV, a narrative of no more than five double-spaced pages describing project scope and relation to LOC collections, and a one-page budget; the recipient must submit a final one-page budget and a report to the Society’s Executive Director within one year. Applications are due October 15 (annual deadline).
