WICB Junior Award for Excellence in Research

About this program

The American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB) Women in Cell Biology (WICB) Junior Award for Excellence in Research recognizes a woman or non-binary scientist within seven years of appointment to an independent position who has made exceptional contributions to cell biology; the winner receives a plaque, complimentary Cell Bio meeting registration and abstract submission, a $1,000 prize, and an invitation to speak at the meeting. Candidates may be self-nominated or nominated by ASCB members (nominators and self-nominators must be ASCB members); members of the WICB Committee are ineligible and candidates may be nominated multiple times. Application materials include a 2-page narrative or nominating letter, a 2-page letter of support, and an NIH-format biosketch (up to 5 pages); uploads are limited to 1 MB per PDF, and ASCB evaluates research contributions and impact rather than journal-based metrics.
