About this program
The American Folklore Society’s Folk Belief and Religious Folklife Section offers the William A. Wilson Prize, including a $250 honorarium, for the best undergraduate research paper on folk belief or religious folklife. The prize honors folklorist and scholar William A. “Bert” Wilson, and the winner is announced at the Society’s annual meeting and featured in the AFS newsletter. Eligible submissions must be English-language papers written by undergraduate students after January 1 of the previous year, be 8–36 pages, and include a cover letter, anonymized and fully footnoted paper, 100-word biography, and faculty endorsement. Applicants may submit one entry electronically by July 15; previous winners are ineligible.
