About this program

The National Sculpture Society offers the Augusta Savage Grant, an unrestricted $2,500 annual prize recognizing excellence in sculpture and awarded to a talented emerging sculptor who self-identifies as Black or African American. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or residents with a Social Security number; works inspired by nature are preferred and sculpture in any media is acceptable. Submissions are made via Entry-Thingy and must include JPEG images of 5–10 works (at least two views for sculptures in the round; maximum 30 images), an artist statement, and a brief CV. A racially diverse jury of three (including at least two Black or African American jurors) selects the single winner; deadline February 9, 2026.
