Young Investigator Award

About this program

Sigma Xi offers the annual Young Investigator Award to recognize outstanding early-career research, providing a certificate, a $5,000 honorarium, and an invitation to lecture at the Sigma Xi Annual Meeting. The award alternates between physical sciences, engineering, and mathematics in even-numbered years and life and social sciences in odd-numbered years. Eligible nominees must be active, dues-paying Sigma Xi members within 10 years of earning their highest degree at the time of nomination. Nominations are due January 31 and must include a curriculum vitae, nomination letter addressing research excellence and broader contributions, and two additional letters of support.
