About this program

The AANS/CNS Joint Cerebrovascular Section, together with partner organizations (e.g., The Aneurysm and AVM Foundation, Brain Aneurysm Foundation, Bee Foundation, CNS Foundation, NREF, CSNS), offers a portfolio of grants, awards, and fellowships to support basic, translational, clinical, and educational work in cerebrovascular disease, including early‑career research startup funding, project grants, travel fellowships, trainee awards, and student summer research stipends. Current highlights include the TAAF 2025 Cerebrovascular Research Grant (applications open; due March 24, 2025), Brain Aneurysm Foundation grants ($10,000–$50,000), the Joint Cerebrovascular Section Traveling Fellowship (up to $7,500), the Young Investigator’s Award for early faculty neurosurgeon‑scientists, and multiple trainee/student awards (Dempsey, Van Wagenen, NREF, CSNS). Eligibility varies by award—examples include board‑eligible cerebrovascular/endovascular fellowship‑trained neurosurgeons within three years of a full‑time faculty appointment for the Young Investigator’s Award, project teams addressing aneurysm/AVM mechanisms for TAAF, CAST certification or demonstrable cerebrovascular practice for the Traveling Fellowship, and appropriate trainee or student status for resident/fellow and medical student awards.
