Youth Incentive Awards

About this program

The Coleopterists Society offers annual Youth Incentive Awards to encourage and financially support students in grades 7–12 studying beetles, awarding one Junior (grades 7–9) and one Senior (grades 10–12) prize of $1,000 USD each plus a one‑year subscription to The Coleopterists Bulletin. Awards support small research or educational projects (e.g., field collecting trips, species inventories, museum visits, workshops) and aim to develop scientific and life skills; proposals are judged on creativity, educational benefit, scientific merit, feasibility, and budget planning. Individual applicants worldwide must submit a proposal written by the student (an adult advisor is strongly encouraged) by the annual November 1 deadline via email to Dr. David G. Furth (furthd@si.edu).
