2027 Call for Applications - TRDRP Award Mechanisms

About this program

The Tobacco-Related Disease Research Program (TRDRP) 2027 Call for Applications funds a range of tobacco-related research and training mechanisms, including predoctoral and postdoctoral awards, Community-Partnered Participatory Research (pilot and full CPPRA), the Smoke and Vape Free Scholars Initiative (SVFSI), the Maternal Smoking Cessation Initiative (MSCI), and Cornelius Hopper diversity and student research supplements. Funding levels and durations vary by mechanism—examples include CPPRA Pilot up to $500,000 ($250,000/Co-PI) for 2 years, CPPRA Full up to $600,000 ($300,000/Co-PI) for 3 years, trainee awards up to 3 years, SVFSI up to 4 years, and supplements of $20,000. Applicants must meet mechanism-specific requirements such as designated mentorship for trainee awards, strong community partnership and intervention focus for CPPRA projects, and California residency/training eligibility for supplements; note that the Research Award, Pilot Award, New Investigator Award, and Tobacco Policy Research Centers are not offered in the 2027 cycle.
