A. Allen Graffham Paleontology Research Grant

About this program

The Association of Applied Paleontological Sciences (AAPS) offers the annual A. Allen Graffham Paleontology Research Grant, a single $1,000 award to support publication, technical, collecting, and other research-related costs (including further fossil acquisitions) for work on specimens collected by or in collaboration with AAPS members. Eligible applicants are scientists, researchers, or students in paleontology (AAPS membership not required) who will publish on the specified specimens and must acknowledge the AAPS and the member who provided the fossils. Applications, due November 1 for consideration the following year, must include a project letter naming the AAPS member who provided the fossils and describing use of funds, letters of recommendation, a current CV or transcript, and a photo (minimum 400 × 600 px, 72 dpi); awardees are chosen by majority vote of AAPS members at the Tucson annual meeting and require AAPS Board approval. Since 2021 non‑U.S. recipients must have a bank account able to accept U.S. wire transfers; inquiries may be directed to George Winters (george@stonejungle.com).
