A. Clifford Barger Mentorship Award

The American Physiological Society invites nominations for the A. Clifford Barger Mentorship Award, which recognizes APS members who have demonstrated leadership and sustained mentorship of underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students in the physiological sciences; one awardee (contingent on funding) receives a $1,000 honorarium plus up to $1,500 travel reimbursement to attend the American Physiology Summit. Nomination-only (no self-nominations); nominees must have been APS members for two consecutive years and be full-time, permanent faculty or staff at a U.S. institution (tenure not required). Nomination packages must include a letter describing mentoring activities, a biosketch, a list of past and current mentees from underrepresented groups with outcomes, and letters of support; selection emphasizes role-modeling, mentoring program description, mentee research outcomes and continued involvement, outreach, and scholarly productivity.
