The A W Howard Memorial Trust, established by Ag Institute Australia/the Australian Institute of Agricultural Science, offers competitive Study Awards (up to $5,000 annually) for pasture‑related conference attendance or relevant experience, Grants‑in‑aid to Australian organisations or individuals for projects that promote pastoral science (e.g., dissemination, commemorations, hosting visiting scientists, equipment) and a biennial Pastoral Industry Extension Study Award (up to $20,000) for study tours examining grazing systems. Funding supports research and extension across natural and social sciences related to the development, management and use of pastures, and proposed tours or conferences must align with the Trust’s aims. Applicants must be Australian citizens, continuous residents in Australia for the past three years, or permanent residents; Study Award applicants must belong to a recognised research organisation, while Grants‑in‑aid are open to Australian organisations, associations, communities or individuals. Preference is given to scientists with limited overseas travel opportunities and the Extension Award is assessed on written merit, demonstrated extension/advisory track record and two referee reports.
