AAI RESTORE Grants Program

About this program

The American Association of Immunologists (AAI) offers the RESTORE Grant Program to provide up to one year of bridge funding for AAI member–led research projects whose NIH or other federal grants were unexpectedly frozen or terminated for reasons other than scientific merit; AAI leadership has committed up to $8M to the program. Awards are made directly to recipient institutions and intended to restore momentum on affected projects while federal issues are resolved. Eligible applicants are AAI members whose federal grant was frozen or terminated for non‑scientific reasons; U.S. recipient institutions must be public institutions or tax‑exempt 501(c)(3) public charities, and non‑U.S. institutions must demonstrate equivalent status. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis through December 1, 2026, require an institutional commitment letter, NIH biosketch, termination notice, specific aims, budget/award details, and a completed funding confirmation form, all uploaded as a single PDF via the AAI member portal.
