AAR Katie Geneva Cannon Excellence in Teaching Award

About this program

The American Academy of Religion offers the Katie Geneva Cannon Excellence in Teaching Award to recognize outstanding teaching in religious studies across diverse higher-education contexts; the prize includes $1,000 and public recognition at the AAR Annual Meeting and WebinAAR. Both nominators and nominees must be AAR members, and nominations may be submitted by others or as self-nominations. Nominees must have at least five years’ experience teaching in higher education and demonstrate exceptional pedagogy, innovation, and commitment to teaching. Complete nominations submitted via the AAR Award Nominations Portal must include a one-page nomination letter, two recent syllabi with supporting documentation, a teaching and learning statement (≤1,000 words), two letters of recommendation, and a CV (≤3 pages).
