About this program
The American Academy of Religion (AAR) offers Regional Development Grants to support special projects that enhance the scholarly and professional life of AAR members within its regions. Grants of up to $4,000 are available for seed funding or one-time projects, such as workshops, training events, or innovative regional initiatives. Eligibility is limited to AAR members, including both individual and collaborative projects, with a requirement that applicants maintain membership throughout the grant period. Collaborative projects must designate a Project Director, and grants cannot be awarded to the same recipients in consecutive years.
