AATJ Lifetime Achievement Awards

About this program

The American Association of Teachers of Japanese (AATJ) offers Lifetime Achievement Awards recognizing members who have made sustained, distinguished contributions to Japanese education at the national or international level; recipients are honored at the AATJ Annual Spring Conference. Nominees must have at least 25 years of distinguished service and demonstrate achievement in leadership, service, teaching, and/or research through significant professional, scholarly, or educational contributions. Nominations must be submitted confidentially by current AATJ members by November 30, 2026, and include a nomination letter plus up to three recommendation letters in a single PDF. Current AATJ board members are ineligible, and awards may be granted posthumously.
