Resident Case Report Competition

About this program

The American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS) offers its annual Cardiothoracic Resident Case Report Competition, recognizing original and unpublished case studies presented in a mini-oral session at the AATS Annual Meeting. Selected participants receive $500 in travel support, and the top presenter receives an additional $500; authors may also submit a related manuscript to JTCVS Techniques. Applicants must be cardiothoracic surgery residents or fellows, with North American residents enrolled in an ACGME- or RCPSC-accredited program and international residents in their final training year at an AATS Member’s institution. Applications are limited to one cardiac and one thoracic candidate per institution and one submission per candidate; abstracts of no more than 3,500 characters are due December 1, 2026.
