Advancing the National Swine Health Strategy Through Targeted Disease Elimination and Prevention

National Pork Board (Pork Checkoff) invites research proposals to advance the National Swine Health Strategy, prioritizing PRRSV and PEDV elimination, reduction of pathogen spread, and foreign/emerging disease prevention and detection; $1 million total is available and proposals will be reviewed throughout 2026 (next review August 10, 2026). Applicants may submit multiple proposals that must directly address one or more specified priorities, include a clear objective, robust study design and defined budget (indirect costs not allowed; graduate student salary/fringe permitted), and provide 3–5 bullet points describing direct producer impact. Proposals must follow the National Pork Board format, be submitted via the Pork Checkoff Research Portal, and will be evaluated by a panel of producers, veterinarians and subject-matter experts for scientific rigor, statistical validity and industry applicability.
