African Raptor Leadership Research Grant

About this program

Raptor Research Foundation is offering African Raptor Leadership Research Grants to fund new MSc or Honors students’ research dissertations on African raptors or key threats (e.g., illegal trade, poisoning, habitat loss), providing up to $10,000 per student (typically two awards/year) to cover tuition, room and board, travel, and research costs. Applicants must be local African students conducting research in their home country and must be accepted to or have applied to one of three partner institutions (APLORI, University of Cape Town FitzPatrick Institute, or Mohammed V University Rabat). Applications (English or French) open each January and are due online by 30 June; required materials include a CV, proof of acceptance/application, a 3–5 page research proposal, detailed budget, advisor contacts, two letters of support, list of other funding, and statements on leadership/mentoring needs. Awardees are expected to have a local in-country mentor when possible (training support may be provided), submit a mid-project and final report plus a project-end financial report, and are selected based on leadership potential, conservation impact, technical merit, and quality of supervisors/mentors.
